Super Eagles Coach, Gernot Rohr, has commended the effort of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to postpone the 2021 AFCON tournament in Cameroon to January 2022.
“No doubt, it is a very wise decision by CAF since the period to organise and play qualifiers is too limited”.
CAF had in the week, hinted of its decision to postpone the next edition of the competition because of the coronavirus pandemic.
This follows the short time available to carry on with football activities which include qualifiers since the calendar year is already tainted with the outbreak of Covid 19.
Also, Rohr is satisfied with CAF’s decision because it will give him ample opportunity to prepare his team for the Qatar 2022 World Cup qualifiers.
“Now, we have enough time to really prepare and make impact when the competition finally starts”. “We will also have time to engage in friendlies to step up our preparations” says Rohr.
