Gerard Lopez, president of French top side, Lille, has advised Nigerian ace striker, Victor Osimhen, to accept a move to Napoli, an Italian Serie A side over other suitors in Europe.
According to reports, Lopez says, “Napoli is just below Juventus and Barcelona, and can be rated on the same level as Atletico Madrid”. “Am very sure that if Osimhen should decide to move to the city of Naples, he would become their brightest star because he has the fine quality to showcase his skills. And, am confident he would have a city like Napoli at his feet, which would be a unique thing in the career of a player”.
“We have gotten different offers for him, and we will continue to engage in the best discussions that will provide the best for his career and future,” stated Lopez while speaking to La Voix du Nord via Gianluca Di Marzio.
Osinhen, who was in Naples at the weekend to hold more contract talks with Napoli president, Aurelio De Laurentiis and club manager, Gennaro Gattuso, has returned to France.
Meanwhile, although the former Wolfsburg of Germany player has not agreed terms, sources say officials of the Italian club and its French counterparts are presently involved in discussions to arrive at a fee that will be satisfactory to both parties.
The Nigerian international who was named the best African player in France few weeks ago, scored 18 goals for Lille last season.
