Tammy Abraham’s impressive scoring record this season has triggered another year on his Chelsea contract.
The 22-year-old signed his current deal in 2017 which was initially due to expire in 2022, raising fears the club may have to rush through a new agreement this summer.
But, reports say the forward triggered a one-year extension after reaching a set number of appearances and goals this season, meaning he will stay at Stamford Bridge until 2023.
Chelsea is reportedly keen to reward the youngster with a longer deal after an impressive season in the Premier League. The striker is the club’s top scorer with 16 goals in 40 games and has also contributed six assists.
The report claims the England international is set for a big pay rise but the extension means neither party are in a panic to start fresh negotiations.
