The kick off of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season may have hit the rocks following reports that its earlier scheduled date of Sunday, November 6, 2020, has been jolted.
According to reports, the commencement of the new season will not go ahead until a later date.
A source who craves anonymity hinted that because of some issues that have to do with the inability to hold an Annual General Meeting (AGM) that will pave way or usher in the new season, it was necessary to step down the earlier proposed kickoff date to avoid embarrassment.
However, the source assured that a new date for the league’s kickoff will be decided and made public in due course.
Before now, inquiries on when the AGM will hold and its venue received insufficient responses from a top NPFL official.
“Speaking at the weekend, the official hinted, “The AGM will hold next week (this week) and its date will be made known soon”, the official said.
However, that response is yet to be seen as the true state of his conclusion”.
