FC Ifeanyi Ubah’s Week 18 home fixture against Jigawa Golden Stars which was rescheduled to hold in Enugu on Sunday by the League Management Company (LMC) may not take place following the decision of the Nnewi side not to honour the match because of what they described as conspiracy against the club.
Speaking on the development with Sports Yarn Class (SYC) on Sunday, FCIU Chairman, Chukwuma Ubah, disclosed that his team is still at Nnewi and intends not to travel to Enugu because of the circumstances sorrounding the sudden change in venue for the match.
“As we speak, we are still at Nnewi (1:42pm) and don’t think we will travel for the match”.
While explaining further, Ubah said, “How can the League body send a letter of the their decision to move the game to Enugu on Friday, when there was no prior notice of such plan for us to prepare”.
“Infact, Jigawa Golden Stars has been in Enugu since Friday and trained on Saturday at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium”. “If I may ask, when did our opponents got their letter specifying the change of venue before they embarked on the journey without we knowing of such plan?, Ubah questioned.
However, he described the development as a conspiracy against his club and vowed not to accept the “dirty tricks” being hatched in certain quarters.
“We will not accept this abnormality in the league because this is totally a conspiracy against us”.
In addition, FCIU has promptly written a protest letter to the League body to reject their decision.
“We have written a letter to the LMC as a reply to their decision to lure or force us to play a game which was supposed to be our home game”, concludes Ubah.
A letter written to FC Ifeanyi Ubah by the LMC on Friday, intimating them on their decision to move the match to Enugu was also made available to SYC.
