Nigerian sports journalist, Frankie Omokhua, has joined other Nigerians in carrying out his Covid-19 vaccination.
This is followed the call made by the Federal Government through the Sports Minister, Sunday Dare, asking sports journalists to get involve in the excercise as part of efforts aimed at guiding against the spread of the deadly virus.
While taking his vaccination on Wednesday in Enugu, the top Sports presenter with Dream Fm called on his colleagues in the sports industry to endeavour to do same.
“I feel so relaxed and comfortable after taking the vaccination”.
“I call on Nigerians especially sports journalists in Enugu and its environ to take this exercise serious by carrying out their vaccination”.
“I believe this will help in the long run while keeping safe and also carrying out the coverage of local and international events”.
The Enugu-based sports journalist becomes the first among members of the state chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) to be administered with the Covid-19 vaccine.
Meanwhile, ahead of the 20th National Sports Festival which is scheduled to begin in Benin City, Edo state in April, the state Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu, had on Monday called on athletes, officials and journalists to ensure they complete their Covid-19 vaccination exercise in order to have access to the Games Village and participate in the competition.
The National Sports Festival will hold from April 2-14, 2021.
