Ondo State Deputy Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has promised players of Sunshine Queens N50,000 for every goal scored by the team at the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership Super Six scheduled to commence on Monday in Ijebu Ode,Ogun State .
The pronouncement was made known in a statement released by the club’s Media Officer, Segun Giwa.
Aiyedatiwa gave the cheering news during a chat with players and officials of the team via telephone ahead of the their encounter with Bayelsa Queens on Monday in Ijebu Ode
“Am assuring you girls, government of Ondo State is behind you, just go out there and give your all. For every goal you score, you get fifty thousand naira,” he said.
The Deputy Governor, who also doubles as the Chairman of the Committee put in place to reposition Ondo State Football Agency-the parent of Sunshine Stars and Sunshine Queens, assured the girls of government’s commitment to their welfare.
The Head Coach of the Team, Wemimo Mathew assured the deputy governor that the girls were in high spirit and will definitely give their best to ensure the state participates in the inaugural CAF Women’s Champions League.
Super Six is a competition for the top six teams of the 2020/2021 NWFL Premiership after the league was terminated abruptly.
The competition was introduced to determine the two teams which will represent the country at the inaugural CAF Women’s Champions League.
Sunshine Queens will begin the competition with a game against Bayelsa Queens by 4pm at the main bowl of the Dipo Dina Stadium in Ijebu Ode.
