…….Gets The Backing Of Seyi Akinwunmi Charity Foundation (SAFC)
The final of the maiden edition of the Late Chidi Offor Okenwa U-13 Soccer Competition came to a close at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu on Saturday.
Young Stars FC defeated. Black Stars by 2-0 to emerge winners of the competition which kicked off in March this year.
The event had top football administrators across the country in attendance. They include Nigeria Football Federation 1st Vice President and Lagos Football Association Chairman, Barrister Seyi Akinwunmi, Nigeria Football Federation Board member and Chairman of Chairmen, Ibrahim Gusau, Enugu State Commissioner for Sports, Manfred Nzekwe, Enugu state House of Assembly Committee on Sports Chairman, Hon. Chinedu Otaka, Enugu State Football Association Chairman, Hon. Tony Ugwu, Edo State Football Association Chairman, Hon. Asemota, Rangers Int’l FC General Manager, Davidson Owumi and a host of others.
In his closing remarks, Akinwunmi eulogized the late Enugu FA chairman, Offor Okenwa, and promised to continue to support deserving players in the competition which will now be yearly affair with financial assistance.
To this end, the Seyi Akinwunmi Charity Foundation (SACF) gave out prize money to players who distinguished themselves in the 8-week long competition. The following categories were rewarded.
The Most Valuable Player Award of N150,000 prize money was won by Oluchi Chinonso while The Second Best Player Award of N150,000 was received by Ugwu Chijekwu.
