Finally, AFN Election Holds In Kebbi On Monday, As Gusau Promises Free And Fair Exercise

Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) President, Ibrahim Shehu Gusau, has promised to improve on the area of athletes exposure and development which will remain part of his ideals, if voted into office for a second term.

Gusau, dropped the hint at the weekend in readiness for the federation’s election scheduled to take place in Kebbi on Monday, June 14, 2021.

The incumbent president also disclosed that he will ensure he unites all members of the federation once re-elected.

“The last four years of my stewardship was spent on leadership controversy, which we could have used to improve the welfare of athletes. But, that is not so”.

“No doubt, we shall carry out our responsibility to give to the athletes what the rightly deserve”.

“We will also make sure that the athletics family is brought together to discuss and settle all differences that will usher in new era and  strategies that will create room for developments in the country”.

In the meantime, delegates have started arriving the Northern state of Kebbi for the elections as Gusau expressed satisfaction with the development describing it as history in the making for Nigerian athletics.

“I’m glad to see that  delegates across the country have states arriving in Kebbi. This to me is a good omen”, said Gusau.

In addition, Gusau has promised to make sure that the election is conducted under a transparent, free and fair atmosphere that will be devoid of issues that would throw the federation into rancour.
