Nigeria’s Olympics wrestler and Commonwealth gold medalist, Odunayo Adekuoroye, may not return to the country after the completion of on-going 2020 Tokyo Games.

This development was revealed through a Lagos-based Radio Station, Top Radio, on Tuesday.

According to Godwin Enakhena, the anchor of Top Sports, a program on the station said the top athlete will not be returning with Team Nigeria contingent at the end of the competition.

“Top star, Odunayo Adekuoroye, plans not to make a return to Nigeria at the end of the Games because she plans to further her education abroad”.

However, a lot of Nigerians are divided over the news of Adekuoroye’s decision. While some believe she may be thinking of such decision in order to improve her educational career, others hinged their thoughts on the poor handling of Team Nigeria athletes by the country’s officials at the Olympic Games, a situation which has been criticized by many sports followers.

Meanwhile, Nigerians will be looking forward to Adekuoroye’s outing when she steps on the mat on Thursday, to compete for gold in the Women’s freestyle 57kg class.
