The Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) will on Friday, August 13, hold the draws for the preliminary rounds of the 2021/2022 Champions League and Confederation Cup.
In a statement on its website, the continent’s soccer ruling body announced that the draws will take place at its headquarters in Cairo, Egypt.
The statement reads: “With the new interclub-season approaching, CAF will organize on Friday 13th August, 2021, the draw for the preliminary rounds of CAF Champions League 2021/22 and CAF Confederation Cup 2021/22″. “The draw will be conducted in Cairo,” part of the statement read.
Meanwhile, CAF has issued a warning stating that Member Associations have until Tuesday 10th August, 2021, to submit the names of their representatives ahead of the competition which will kick off on 10th September, 2021, with the first round of preliminaries while the group stages will commence in February 2022.
The 12 best-placed national associations in the CAF ranking are authorized to enter two clubs in the different competitions. The associations include, South Africa, Algeria, Angola, DR Congo, Egypt, Guinea, Morocco, Nigeria, Sudan, Tanzania, Tunisia and Zambia.
Al Ahly of Egypt were the winners of the last edition of the CAF Champions League while Raja Athletic Club of Morocco won the CAF Confederation Cup.
