WU20: Nigeria Wins Another Medal To Place 8th On The Medals Table At World Athletics U-20 Championships

Team Nigeria made another podium appearance on Friday after winning a bronze medal in the Men’s Jevelin final on Day 3 of the ongoing World Athletics U-20 Championships in Nairobi, Kenya.

Chinecherem Nnamdi whose impressive throw of 78.02m in the semi final made him one of the favorites to win the event’s gold came third after a throw of 74.48m.

The result made Nnamdi to become the first Nigerian to win a medal in the event at the championships.

Janne Laspa of Finland won the gold with a throw of 76.46m and Artur Felfner of Ukraine took the silver with a throw of 76.32m.

 Meanwhile, after winning one gold and one silver on Day 2 of the ongoing World Athletics U-20 Championships in Nairobi, Kenya, Team Nigeria is now occupying joint 8th position with Jamaica.

Host country, Kenya, is leading the medals table with three gold, one silver, 2 bronze, Finland is second with two gold, one silver, Ethiopia is third after winning one gold, 3 silver, one bronze, South Africa is fourth with one gold, two silver, one bronze while Belarus completes the top five with one gold, one silver and one bronze.
