Former Plateau United coach, Abdul Maikaba, was formally unveiled by the Management of Rangers International FC of Enugu on Thursday.
Speaking at the brief ceremony which took place at the club’s corporate headquarters in Enugu, Rangers General Manager, Davidson Owumi, welcomed Maikaba to the Flying Antelopes family.
“Our newly appointed Technical Adviser, the very distinguished members of the press and the chief coach of the outfit, we are happy to welcome you guys to Rangers management headquarters”.
“We are in here for a very brief ceremony, and that is to unveil officially the new coach of Rangers International of Enugu”.
While expressing satisfaction with his appointment and unveiling, Makaiba, who had previously handled Enyimba FC of Aba disclosed that Rangers is the best organised club in the country, explaining that his target at Rangers is all or nothing.
“I’m a very happy man today and it’s a historic day because this is the day I was officially confirmed as the Technical Adviser of this great club”.
He further expantiated on his mission at Rangers.
“From what I have seen so far since my arrival, Rangers stands out to be the best well organized club in the country today”.
To me as a coach, I want to win the league for the first time with Rangers because any club I have worked in the last few years, I always make sure I get continental ticket”. “So, my target in Rangers is to win a trophy. Not just a trophy, but, our target should be all or nothing. That means any competition we are in, we target the trophy”, said Maiikaba.
Also, Enugu state Commissioner for Sports, Manfred Nzekwe, who represented the state government believes the decision taken to appoint Maikaba was the right one.
“We as a government are happy to have you here today”. “The decision which the government has taken to have you is commendable”.
“We believe in you and have your track records. I welcome you specially”, ended Nzekwe.
Personalities who were also present at the unveiling include Rangers Secretary, Ferdinand Ugwuarua and the club’s assistant coach, Mbwas Mangut
The unveiling of Maikaba, has now doused the tension and apprehension which enveloped the length and breadth of the Coal City state.
