2022 World Cup: Ekweremadu Congratulates Super Eagles Over Qualification For Playoff Round

Former Nigeria’s Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, has congratulated the Super Eagles after booking a place in the next round of the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign.

In his congratulatory message posted on his official Facebook page on Tuesday evening, Ekweremadu said, “Congratulations to the Super Eagles as Nigeria inches closer to Qatar 2022 World Cup, but….”

The Eagles were held to a 1-1 draw by the Blue Sharks of Cape Verde in the last Group C qualifying game which took place at the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Lagos on Tuesday.

The coach Gernot Rohr-led team finished top of the group with 13 points while Cape Verde placed second with 11 points.

Nigeria joins African champions, Algeria, as the latest two sides to progress to the playoff round of the Qatar 2022 World Cup qualifiers.

Algeria played a 2-2 draw with Burkina Faso in Blida.
