The Congress of the League Management Company (LMC) has been forced to accept December 1, 2021, as date for it to ratify the appointment of Enugu Rangers General Manager, Davidson Owumi, as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the league body.
According to reports, the latest decision came to the fore after the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) kicked against the stance of a top LMC official not to recognize the federation’s overall position to annoit Owumi.
The federation had in October 2020 announced Owumi as LMC CEO designate. But, all efforts by the Delta-born top administrator to take up responsibility were rebuked, a development which lured top NFF officials to step in and resolve the issue.
Before now, a top sponsor, Bet9ja had made known it will not give its financial support to the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) until Owumi resumes full duty.
With the LMC CEO leadership impasse now over, Nigerians are looking forward to the start of the 2021/22 league season, although, no date has been fixed for the kick off.
