Factional President of the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF), Igoche Mark, has charged Nigeria’s female basketball team, D’Tigress, to make Nigeria proud in the forthcoming FIBA Women’s World Cup Qualifiers in Serbia.
Mark, who made this known in a.media chat in Abuja on Sunday, promised to settle all outstanding backlog of bonuses and allowances being owed the team by the Federation.
He added that the new board of the NBBF has made the issues confronting the female team a top priority.
“D’Tigress, this is to wish you all the best as you go to make Nigeria proud once again in Serbia at the World Cup Qualifiers”.
“Our prayers are with you and be rest assured that the new face of basketball has come to stay”. “We have heard your appeal and we are going to handle all your issues, all your outstandings and debts are going to be paid as soon as possible”. “We are working on it, but, for now please go make us proud”, Mark stated.
The House of Representatives Committee on Sports had in November,2021, mandated the Musa Kida-led NBBF board to pay the team $50,000 being outstanding bonuses and allowances owed D’Tigress since 2018.
African champions, D’Tigress, are in Group B alongside continental rivals, Mali while France and China are the other opponents in the group.
