BREAKING: LMC Slams Kano Pillars With N9M Fine, Banished To MKO Stadium, Abuja, Over Fan Violence

Following the violence and vandalism carried out by supporters of Kano Pillars in their Week 23 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) game at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano on Saturday, the League Management Company (LMC) has slammed the club with N9million fine for breaching NPFL Rules.

In a release stating punishments meted out to the club and made available on Sunday night, Pillars were also banished to Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja while three points were deducted from the club. Also, their Sanni Abacha Stadium home ground has been banned from hosting NPFL games with immediate effect.

The club was mandated to repair and replace the damaged Katsina United team bus while the match which was declares inconclusive is to be continued with a replay in Abuja.

The match was goalless after 82 minutes, before violent fans invaded the stadium, attacking everyone in sight before the game ended abruptly.

The incident took place on a day when Pillars were returning to their home ground for the first time in two years due to earlier ban occasioned by fan violence.

In other Week 23 results on Saturday, Nasarawa United played 1-1 against Remo Stars, Abia Warriors was held to a 1-1 draw by Niger Tornadoes, Rangers International had a goalless draw against Sunshine Stars, Gombe United drew 1-1 with visiting Akwa United and Dakkada defeated Heartland by 2-1.

Elsewhere on Saturday, Wikki Tourists played 1-1 against Kwara United at home as Shooting Stars had the biggest win of the week beating Lobi Stars 3-0 while on Sunday, Plateau United defeated MFM 2-0. The fixture between Rivers United and Enyimba of Aba comes up on Monday, April 18, in Port Harcourt.E
