Sports Minister Visits Asaba To Inspect Facilities For 2022 National Sports Festival.

Minister for Youth and Sports Development, Sunday Dare, has called on states across the federation to continue to emulate Delta state model as part of efforts to enhance the development of grassroots sports.

Dare diaclosed this in Asaba on Friday when he paid a visit to the state to inspect the Steven Keshi Stadium to ascertain the level of preparedness by the state to host the 2022 National Sports Festival.

The Minister who was led on a tour of facilities by the Chairman of the State Sports Commission and President of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN), Tonobok Okowa, said he was pleased with the way Delta state had always helped in the development of sports over the years.

The minister enjoined states to invest more in the sports sector as such investments would produce quality athletes since there is a need to enhance the development of sports at the grassroots in order to discover talents who will be given the platform to be exposed to the international community.

Dare had inspected the old and new Indoor Sports Hall, the Main-bowl and the event center at the Steven Keshi Stadium, Asaba, which is expected to host Table Tennis event and combat sports.

The minister expressed confidence in Delta state’s ability to deliver the facilities before the commencement of the Games in November.
