Cameroon FA Boss, Samuel Eto’o, Escapes Prison Sentence Over Image Rights Fraud

Cameroon Football Federation President, Samuel Eto’o, is reported to have admitted to being involved in image rights fraud which dates back to 2006 and 2009, when he played at Spanish side, Barcelona.

According to reports, the financial involvement is estimated at 3.8 million Euros.  

In the matter brought before the Catalan Court, Eto’o was asked to pay a fine of €1.8 million, which allowed the Cameroon legend to escape a prison sentence of 22 months.

Eto’os former representative, Jose Maria Mesalles, also paid a fine to avoid a one-year prison sentence.
