ANFPU BOT Chairman, Iloenyosi, Blasts Oliseh Over Comments On NFF

Frankie Omokhua Former Nigeria international and Board of Trustees Chairman of All Nigeria Football Players Union (ANFPU), Chikelue Iloenyosi, has rubished the statements credited to former Super Eagles coach, Sunday Oliseh, on the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF). Oliseh, in the statement revealed by an online media said there should be a change of leadership at the Glass House. Reacting to the development, Iloenyosi said no right thinking and patriotic football stakeholder would plan to cause crisis or disunity in Nigerian football at this point in time. Gov. Ugwuanyi Inspects Reconstruction Work At Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium Pitch In Enugu

Frankie Omokhua Enugu Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, on Wednesday carried out an inspection visit to the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium pitch which is undergoing comprehensive overhauling and reconstruction. Gov. Ugwuanyi recently awarded the contract for the upgrade of the pitch with the installation of state-of-the-art turf in line with the requirements of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Licensing Regulation on sports infrastructure and facilities. Quadri Loses To Sweden’s Moregard In World Table Tennis Championships Q/final

Frankie Omokhua Nigeria's table tennis star, Aruna Quadri's excellent run at the 2021 World Table Tennis Championships in Houston, Texas, came to an end on Sunday morning, after losing 4-2 (13-11, 11-8, 2-11, 11-4, 12-14, 11-7, to Sweden's Truls Moregard in the quaterfinal. The Nigerian had earlier defeated another Swede, Kristian Karlsson, in the round of 16 on Saturday to reach the quaterfinal. Despite the defeat, Quadri made history in the championships by being the first Nigerian and African to reach the round of 16 and by extension the last 8 since the inception of the Championships.

WCQ PlayOffs: FIFA Tasks Nigeria, Others To Install VAR Technology In Stadiums, As CAF Moves Draw Date To January

Frankie Omokhua Latest reports reaching Sports Arena say the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has postponed the draws for the 2022 World Cup qualifying playoff matches to January 26, 2022, instead of the earlier December date. The reports further stated that FIFA ranking for the period would be used to seed the teams. Already, the participating countries which include Nigeria have been asked to install Video Assistant Referee (VAR) technology in their stadiums. However, the world's football governing body warned that failure to do so, would see defaulters playing their games in other countries that have functional VAR, rather than their home grounds.

Frankie Omokhua Nigeria’s table tennis star, Aruna Quadri, moved into the quaterfinal of the World Table Tennis Championships in Houston, Texas, after defeating Kristian Karlsson of Sweden in their last 16 game decided on Saturday. The Nigerian had an 11-9, 13-11, 11-8, 11-6 resounding victory over the Swede. Quadri, who is 13th seed in the world also set a record of being the first and only African to reach this stage in the history of the Championships.
