Criminal Proceedings Against Infantino Gross And Ridiculous – FIFA

Frankie Omokhua FIFA has described the decision by Swiss authorities to open criminal proceedings against its president, Gianni Infantino, last week as gross and ridiculous. Blatter, who was FIFA president for 17 years, was suspended and later banned by FIFA’s ethics committee after he became the subject of criminal proceedings in Switzerland in 2015, an investigation that is...

The special prosecutor, Stefan Keller, who was appointed last month to review complaints against the two men and others, had found indications of criminal conduct related to their meetings, according to the AB-BA watchdog which oversees the Attorney General’s Office. “This concerns abuse of public office, breach of official secrecy, assisting offenders and incitement to these acts,” the watchdog said in a statement. However, both Lauber and Infantino have denied wrongdoing. In a statement, FIFA said it would cooperate fully while Infantino ...
